Are you a leader that like to optimize and restructure processes, lead a small on shore team whilst being responsible for the results of a large team in our shared service center in Bucharest. Do you like to make our company ready to pass the annual audit within 3 month. And, above all, can you work together with all levels in the organization with all sorts of characters? Then this position will provide you the challenge and learning you are looking for!

Goals of the role

  • Own the respective Financial Statement lines and ensure a proper audit process and result.
  • Provide correct and transparent data for Controlling and the Business to base their analysis and in the end decisions upon.
  • Ensure all is in place to have a smooth, quick and with that successful audit of the financial statements. For this close cooperation with the auditors, external reporting, tax, customer finance, IT and control but also business leaders is required. There is a heavy dependency on the Internal Controls framework and related systems, eg. to register Assets.
  • The output of the Shared Service Center pillars Fixed Assets, General Ledger and Accounts Payables is the responsibility of the manager Payables, Assets & Holdings. With this, steering on deliverables and from a distance is critical for this position.
  • As Accounting Operations is the machine for information, many other departments depend on accounting operations to provide accurate and timely data. Executing a smooth month end process is critical but also correct interpretation of key financial standards and – when needed – align with experts to ensure correct interpretation, implementation and execution.
  • Lead a team of junior, medior and senior professionals. Provide structure, motivate, develop, guide , assess performance and award increases (or not) but critical in this complex environment is ensuring things are done efficient and non-value adding activities are stopped.
  • Ensure continuity and improve complex processes for which multiple teams need to be aligned and contributing. Often management of other departments need to be convinced.
  • As the scope of work is too large for any manger to fully grasp in detail, the manager needs to be able to steer based on risk but also create trust with his or her people to ask for advice. When advice is requested the manager needs to be able to listen, connect, quickly understand, analyze urgency and decide. Possibly coach or ensure help is provided from elsewhere.

  • Extensive knowledge of how to execute and implement IFRS in daily operations

  • Result oriented and high-level of multi-tasking skills, including ability to assign tasks and duties to other professionals
  • Skilled in implementation of service levels and new processes in the organization.
  • Not afraid for confrontation when required. Change is needed which requires perseverance

Expected results

  • Timely, complete an accurate processing and representation of financial transactions
  • Ensures tight deadlines are realized for month, quarter and year end closing and other important accounting processes. This include E2E coordination for this whole area of responsibilities.
  • Maintain a healthy working relation with the external auditor
  • Ensure proof of correct accounts through eg. balance sheet reconciliations and other accounting reporting towards internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure the Shared Service Center deliveres. Without the SSC the on shore team cannot perform.
  • Ensure Technology and other departments that provide inputs to the process or maintain underpinning systems deliver based on clear instructions and timely intervention when not done
  • Maintain up-to-date (control) procedures and working instructions within the department
  • Ensures databases needed to be relied upon are efficient and correct
  • Execution and documentation of the control testing within the department
  • As accounting operations is closest to critical data, often ad hoc requests are made. The manager needs to act swift and decisive to understand the request and how to obtain the information.
